Banks, estate agents, employment agencies, insurance firms and cop cars were among the targets of the crowd’s wrath during a carnival against the Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport, Western France, and the country’s continued state of emergency. Over 1000 people turned out last Saturday in Rennes to support the ZAD (“Zone to Defend”), an area of land squatted for the past nine years, which the state and its friends at Vinci have set their sights on becoming an airport. As recently reported in Rabble, the ZAD is now facing eviction in the coming weeks and have called on people to escalate the struggle. At least 5 people were arrested and a considerable amount of damage done to corporate targets in the town.
